Technical Gear
  • rock climbing shoes
  • harness
  • helmet
  • 3 locking carabiners
  • 1 belay device
  • 1 shoulder length sling
Feet
  • Hiking boots or shoes. Good fit, cushion and support are required.
  • light weight sandals. To use around camps, in town, at the beach.
  • 3 pairs of hiking socks, 3 pairs of regular socks
Lower body
  • Light underwear bottoms. Avoid cotton.
  • 1 pair of light-weight capilene base layer
  • rain pants (light weight)
  • synthetic pant for hiking/climbing
  • swim trunks
Upper body
  • Light weight capilene shirt.
  • .mid weight fleece (something similar to Patagonia's R1 layer)
  • Hard shell jacket, waterproof
  • 100-200 weight fleece coat
Head
  • Sun hat or baseball cap. Synthetic works best.
  • Warm hat. Wool or pile.
  • Sunglasses
Hands
  • Fleece finger gloves. 100 to 200 fleece, best with windbloc.
Personal equipment
  • Down or synthetic sleeping bag. Should be at least 20°
  • Thermarest pad. ¾ size will work. Light series are great combined with a foam pad. Include repair kit.
  • Large backpack. Up to 6000 cu inches. Simple design, good fit.
  • Headlamp. LED small headlamps work well.
  • 1 water bottles. Wide mouth 1 liter Nalgene style.
  • Sunscreen and lip protection. At least 30 SPF for both.
  • Small first aid kit. Include ear plugs, tape, blister kit, aspirin tablets, personal medications.
  • Pocket knife. Light and simple.
Optional items
  • Book, notebook, pencil. Waterproof Rite'n the rain notebooks suggested. Avoid pen.
  • Walkman/Ipodsera
  • Camera and film/USB cable
  • Toiletry bag. Toothbrush, toothpaste, wipes, etc.
Travel gear
  • Large light weight duffel bag. Sleeping bag storage sacks work great.
  • Travel clothes.
