Rock Climbing Asturias Equipment List
Technical Gear
- rock climbing shoes
- harness
- helmet
- 3 locking carabiners
- 1 belay device
- 1 shoulder length sling
Feet
- Hiking boots or shoes. Good fit, cushion and support are required.
- light weight sandals. To use around camps, in town, at the beach.
- 3 pairs of hiking socks, 3 pairs of regular socks
Lower body
- Light underwear bottoms. Avoid cotton.
- 1 pair of light-weight capilene base layer
- rain pants (light weight)
- synthetic pant for hiking/climbing
- swim trunks
Upper body
- Light weight capilene shirt.
- .mid weight fleece (something similar to Patagonia's R1 layer)
- Hard shell jacket, waterproof
- 100-200 weight fleece coat
Head
- Sun hat or baseball cap. Synthetic works best.
- Warm hat. Wool or pile.
- Sunglasses
Hands
- Fleece finger gloves. 100 to 200 fleece, best with windbloc.
Personal equipment
- Down or synthetic sleeping bag. Should be at least 20°
- Thermarest pad. ¾ size will work. Light series are great combined with a foam pad. Include repair kit.
- Large backpack. Up to 6000 cu inches. Simple design, good fit.
- Headlamp. LED small headlamps work well.
- 1 water bottles. Wide mouth 1 liter Nalgene style.
- Sunscreen and lip protection. At least 30 SPF for both.
- Small first aid kit. Include ear plugs, tape, blister kit, aspirin tablets, personal medications.
- Pocket knife. Light and simple.
Optional items
- Book, notebook, pencil. Waterproof Rite'n the rain notebooks suggested. Avoid pen.
- Walkman/Ipodsera
- Camera and film/USB cable
- Toiletry bag. Toothbrush, toothpaste, wipes, etc.
Travel gear
- Large light weight duffel bag. Sleeping bag storage sacks work great.
- Travel clothes.
