Bariloche Rock & Ice

Traditional and Alpine Climbing at Frey, Piedra Parada and Tronador

The beautiful Lakes Region of Argentina, near Bariloche, has been a destination for climbers and a center of climbing activity for several decades. During this trip, you will have the opportunity not only to climb in this world-class area, but also to experience the unique Patagonian landscape.

Cerro Catedral, South America's best ski resort during the winter, is also a premier climbing destination. Our itinerary begins here, at the Refugio Frey hut, encircled by spires of immaculate granite. There are maculate climbs of up to 10 pitches in length, and ranging in difficulty from 5.8 to 5.12. It doesn't hurt that it is located a few hours hike above Bariloche.

Next, we will try one of the great mountaineering prizes of the area, the massive Mt Tronador. We'll finish our trip climbing a couple days at Piedra Parada, a beautiful and isolated dessert crag by the Chubut River. The low client-guide ratio and our leader expertise will guarantee a significant step up on your climbing technical skills.
